The name Fons Fidei — "Fountain of Faith" — draws on the image of the water and blood that flowed from Christ's pierced side on Calvary, the fountain from which the sacramental life of the Church springs. It is a reminder that the Faith is not a set of abstract propositions but a living stream, flowing from the Cross and reaching every generation.
